Lombardia is the most populated region of Italy. In the Stelvio National Park you can find deers, roes, chamoises, stein bocks, foxes, squirrels, capercaillies and eagles. This region is also full of lakes such as the Major Lake with the wonderful Borromee islands, the Lake of Como with the characteristic countries of Cernobbio, Moltrasio and Maneggio, the Lake of Garda with the spa towns of Sirmione and Desenzano; the Lake of Iseo in the area of Franciacorta, famous for its fine wines. But Lombardia is also mountain: you can visit the Valsassina skiing resort and the well-known Livigno and Medesimo. The Lombardia region is a real mix of natural beauties. Milan is the main city and it is famous for its liveliness but it is also the centre of Italian economy and fashion. The Lombard cuisine offers traditional and unique dishes: the Milanese Risotto made with saffron and the meat soup, the Milanese veal cutlet, the pumpkin ravioli, the pizzoccheri valtelinesi, bresaola, sbrisolona cake (typical Mantua cake) and Panettone, the most typical Christmas sweet.
